Centenary Park

Format: 4 ball best ball (4 drives each)
Second game of the season, first team event and we’re on local turf at Centenary Park. First blow of the day came at 6.30 am in the shape of a text message from Ryan, who had to pull out with a back injury, sustained doing something he shouldn’t have. With no subs available as day broke, this would mean Deeks’ team would have to battle on with 3 players. Along with the blustery conditions, this proved a bridge too far for said captain who was joined by Barra and Billy Mac, with a nett score of 64.125. Smashing this by almost 7 shots with a nett 57.25 to wear the jackets would be the ‘team specialist’, Christophe to lead his troops onto the dais. However, this itself wasn’t without controversy, as Joe had left 3 of the Tweed at home. This only denied Mitch, Tich and Tim the prestige of donning the treasured garment for the day. Unlike last month’s recipient, Sammy who’s had it on for 4 weeks. Joe was administered a $5 fine into the men’s health fund, duly paid. With the McClelland headquarters undergoing a refurb, the formalities would shift to Cranbourne soccer club for the next 3 outings. Our thanks go out to them for allowing us to use their facilities.
The winning team would all take stock of a 1 shot cut each taking Christophe from 8 to 7, Mitch 22 to 21, Tich 28 to 27 and Tim 36 to 35.
The losing trio would all ease out 1 shot; Deeks 14 to 15, Barra 21 to 22 and Billy Mac would start his annual march towards the big 4- 0, going from 36 to 37.
Nearest the pins on the day would go to Billy A. (2nd), Joe (8th and 18th), Bob (13th).
Thanks to Deeks, Hubba and Tim for the event management of the day.
