Format: Stableford
Another superb day in the MGC calendar at the Cape Schanck resort. Carts for all were a blessing with the Melbourne heatwave continuing to push the temperature gauge soaring into the 30’s.
Stableford singles event was the format which would test the members. The field was spread evenly with a difference of 22 points from last to first. As predicted, due to familiar match preparation, Joe forgot to bring the propeller hat and was duly fined $20. Along with this, Joe bowed to membership pressure and relinquished the self-imposed 3 shot slide from the previous outing to play of 13.
Sporadic guest player, Jimmy the chef, should his rustiness around the course with a battling 17 points to be sitting in the clubhouse awaiting the ensuing groups and praying for subsequent shite scores to avoid the NAGA. It was Biggsy, who seemed to enjoy wearing the prop hat so much at Ringwood, who opted to play like a total fannwa and save the chef’s day, carding a poor 16 points for the day to don said embarrassing attire.
But winners are grinners as they say, and big Kev would be the only man to play to, or above his handicap with a score of 38 points, 3 more than his nearest rival. Callaway hats, digital tablets, golf balls all among the prizes handed out this month.
Nearest the pins went to Barra, Ryan (2), Baby Koala, Shug
The handicappers were quick to move and duly cut the winner Kev, 3 shots from 22 to 19. A rarity would see Biggsy slide out a shot from 24 to 25. As the monthly festivities warmed along with the weather, Girdy had a brain fade and took a voluntary cut of 1 shot from 18 to 17, strange move for someone who’s never won hee-haw.
