This month was to commemorate the 5th anniversary of Jack’s passing. Weather was unusually perfect and the course was good. With the familiar format of stableford with ‘nae gimmees’ it was with a few words from Barra and a toast to Jack and off we went for the first singles event of the season.
Andy Mac was sidelined from a recent knee op and opted to play barman and steward with a cart around the course. The propeller hats were again on show with Paul, Sutho, Macster wearing them from the Rossdale game and Winker donning his from a previous pish outing.
With plenty at stake and hunners o’ prizes up for grabs ‘barman McKenna’ would be floating around the course reporting on the leader board status throughout the day. Biggsy and Hughesy were to set the early pace and this would be the pair to battle it out to the end with Hughesy prevailing by just the one point.
Hughesy – 37 points
Prizes galore for the winner including a Ping golf towel, Titliest cap, iphone accessories, polo shirts from both Flinders and Rossdale, Rolex pens, cufflinks, MGC prov1 balls, cold hard cash and much, much more.
The slow starters on the front nine fighting to avoid the NAGA trophy would be Shugs, Clayton, Joe and the current singles champion Billy Mac. But in the end it was to be the Macster whose fall from grace would see him wearing the ‘propeller’ hat for the second time so early in the season.
Billy Mac – 18 points
Nearest the pins on the day went to Deeks, Christophe and Biggsy
Hughesy was looked after by the handicappers with a 2 shot cut to 24
Another superb day, with a big thanks to all those who donated prizes, much appreciated.
