First game of the season, controversy aplenty. The organiser’s decision to change venues due to the wet conditions at Pakenham proved to be a good one as Patterson River was in great condition. However the taking point of the membership was all about the new ‘propeller hats’ to be worn by the NAGA winners.
With the shift of venue, came the change of agreed format from stableford to 4 ball best ball, which meant a re-draw of the teams, but the usual late call-offs meant this would be delayed to late on in the week.
Late arrivals, some worse for wear, would play a telling part in the (lack off) performance for some and duly put some teams under undue pressure. Captain Girth had to hand the armband over to Barra, who, somehow managed to scratch his team into the NAGA safety zone, but only just.
Quote of the day, came from Tim, after only 6 holes played he called over Barra to tell him how superb his team were travelling and that they already had his name down accounting for 3 drives. Karma tends to bite hardest in these times as his team led by Snappy Tom would plummet back down through the field to card the worst score of the day of 62.375 net, resulting in them wearing the new caps.

But winners of the inaugural game of the season would see the jackets onto the ever so regular Deeks, along with Barney, Stevie Gray and Tich with a resounding score of 56.875.
Barney, Deeks, Stevie G, Tich
Nearest the pins went to Tich 2nd and 7th, Paul 12th, Barney 16th
Handicappers were to show mercy or leniency on the first team event and cut Deeks 2 shots to 12, Stevie Gray 2 shots to 30, Tich 3 shots to 22 and Barney of course would be cut no shots, go figure.
Team 1: Paul 16, Poodle 20, Kev 24, Clayton 32 - 11.5
Team 2: Joe 13, Sutho 21, Dave 24, Bob 36 – 11.75

It was also voted and noted that any future countback will relate to the last nine holes as per the course scorecard, not necessarliy the last nine holes played.
