Pastures new for the members this month, with an outing inland to Waterford Valley.
However the week, or the few days leading into Sunday are becoming a nightmare for the organisers with late call offs. This seems to becoming a more than regular occurrence and we ask if the members can be a bit more considerate towards the amount of work that goes into trying to run these days as smooth as possible. There is enough work to do to achieve this without more of the organiser’s time being consumed at the 11th hour by some who perhaps to take it all for granted.
On many of these courses monies need to be paid up front, also the desire of the members to play team events throughout the season is very high. This is made increasingly difficult to not only level the numbers but also keep the teams as even as possible, as people drop out at short notice.
Late inclusions of Tim and Cookie managed to level up the squad to play a 2 ball best ball format. After a, much appreciated, mammoth effort to get there for his debut, Cookie would be paired with Clayton and Tim would team up with Andy Mac for the day.
Neither Clayton nor Cookie could bring any leadership qualities to the team and consequently suffered towards a net score of 76.75.
After the round Cookie also managed to get caught up in the ‘goon bag’ carry-on which has been the undoing of a few members in the past, major error.
See ‘members’ profiles’:
This would see Cookie drift off into the sunset early doors and leave Clayton to accept the NAGA trophy on his own.
‘Goon bag’ Cookie and Clayton – 76.75
At the top end it was jackets on for Hughie and his, return to the fold, partner Hughesy who were to record a comfortable 67.5 to scoop the honours.
Hughie and Hughesy – 67.5
A fine array of prizes to the winners of some new ‘Raybans’, i-pod earphones, hats, ‘prov1′ balls, stubby holders and tees.
Nearest to the pins for the day Tich (2nd), Sutho (5th), Paul (13th) and Mitch (17th)
Handicap cuts for the day would have Hughie cut by 2 (20-18) and Hughesy slashed by 4 (30-26) as in keeping with the consistency of the season.
