Format: 4 ball best ball

Finally the ‘Society’ managed to get back onto the fairways, albeit at the magnificent Cape Schank resort. Some of the members making their first appearance of the season.

The unseasonal inclement weather of late meant the groups would be drawn ‘on course’.

The luck of the draw would mean that the team of Joe, Shug and Barra would have to play with a man down, due to the pre-match preparation of Bob, ie ‘no lob’. This along with the ever reliable Baby Koala who had the wrong tee-off time, luckily, he had the right course.

What was to emerge on the first tee was the brand spanking new set of Callaways from the kit bag of Andy Mac, who ‘allegedy’ had been giving them a workout during the inactivite period in the club. This was to be quite an eye opener for the handicappers to take a quiet note as he lashed and burned up the course for the next few hours, old ‘Agent Orange’ himself was ‘allegedly’ giving out lessons to boot.

With a handicap of 27 the bookies have closed the book on him for the ‘Jack Jones Memorial’.

An outing never seems to go by without a tale of woe from one of our members, usually Billy Mac. This month had the Macster high tailing up the fairway in the cart with Snappy Tom, when his teamates finally caught up carrying the Macsters clubs which had manged to fall off the back of the cart some 200 meters back, Macster claims the seatbelt had come loose, others believe Snappy Tom had hit the eject button to give his team a chance. This feeble act from the captain was to prove a bridge too far for the team led by Snappy Tom and once again the NAGA would fall into the welcoming hands of Billy Mac with a net score of 59.5.

Snappy Tom refused to attend the photoshoot, citing returning of overdue library books.

Paul, Baby Koala and Billy Mac

But the winners on the day would be the team of Damo, Ryan, Tich and Biggsy with a net return of 55.875.

These lads would be the recipients of some outstanding sporting prizes which included a couple of official ‘Jabulani’ footballs from the 2010 world cup and 2 basketballs which were signed by the Harlem Globetrotters on their recent visit to Australia. This along with the no expense spared hats, t-shirts and golf balls which is becoming a given in the ‘Society’ these days.

Damo, Ryan, Tich, Biggsy

It was nice to see Biggsy finally get a jacket on after being reduced to tears at Devilbend when he was leader in the clubhouse with one group to come in, then got twatted by Alan, pathetic!

It wasn’t long till Biggsy was once again filling up on hearing that they had been cut 4 shots for winning by the handicappers. Sighs of relief to follow as this was explained to be 4 shots between them.

Nearest the pins for the day went to Alan, Joe, Baby Koala, Christophe and Clayton.

Teams for the day were:

Team 1 : Deeks, Andy Mac, Mitch, Taffy

Team 2 : Joe, Shug, Barra, Bob

Team 3 : Damo, Ryan, Tich, Biggsy

Team 4 : Snappy Tom, Paul, Baby Koala, Billy Mac

Team 5 : Dave, Sutho, Stevie, Alan

Team 6 : Christophe, Winker, Clayton, Tim

This week could all members please be at Flinders for around 7.00 am so we can have time to toast Jack proir to tee-off.
