The Jack Jones Memorial Day was commemorated, as usual, with a few words and quick half on the first tee in memory of one of our past members.
The club welcomed back Andy Mac to the fold for his first game of the season after a short spell on the sidelines. Armed with his new handicap he didn’t hang about in making his intentions clear by firing a 3 wood straight at Alan Anderson which hit him on the full knocking him to the ground. A. Mac showed his fellow compatriot no remorse and carried on as if nothing had happened. Eyes firmly on the title.
Format for this event is stableford, with the added rule of ‘nae gimmes’ and it was one of our newer members, Paul, who was to come through with the goods on the day, with a score of 38 points, which would see him wearing the Harris Tweed for the first singles event of the season and take out the massive bounty of prizes that was up for grabs.
Paul – 38 points

Favouritism for the NAGA was firming rapidly in the direction of Bob, whose pre-match preparation had left the bookies no choice but to suspend all betting for said trophy.
This proved to be a wise move from Ladbrokes and William Hill as Bob had the honours sewn up early doors and managed to romp it in with a grand tally of 16 points, which would have had Jack spinning on the 6th green that this was even allowed on his course.
Nearest the pins for the day went to Mitch, Hughesy, Joe and Deeks who each received a full sleeve of the MGC balls.
The handicapper was left to administer the club adjustments and duly obliged by cutting Paul 3 shots to 18, then after Dave was spotted sliding a lazy tenner in the direction of Joe it was Dave who managed to ease out 1 shot to 16, nice work.
A fantastic day and thanks to all.
