First outing had the troops converge onto the very wet Pakenham in September, with a few of the lads turning up a bit wet themselves (from the inside), none more so than one our more responsible club captains Joe, who couldn’t even manage to get into his golf gear, so the Barra stole his shoes, Spoon stole his clubs and his possy and left Joe to sleep it off in the car.
Barra set the season off by handing out showbags to all participants on the day, which included hats, stubby holders, tees, pens, balls, tee-shirts and umbrellas just to name a few of the free gifts.
Format was to be ‘4 ball ambrose’ with the winning team led by Deeks along with Barra, Taffy and Tich making it look all too easy. First to don the Harris Tweeds for the new season. Scorecard = net 58.875
Losers for the day would see the NAGA return to the familiar hands of Dave along with Koala, Clayton and Damo who refused to show up for the photo shoot. Scorecard = net 63.25
Four ‘nearest the pins’ went to Christophe, Alan, Dave and Paul who each took home the mandatory ‘MGC prov1’ balls.
Back at the club when Joe finally came to, it was left to himself, in the absence of Shug, to set a new precedence and cut the handicaps of the winners of the first ‘fun game’ of the season, everyone, except Joe, thought this was a bit harsh but the victors copped it sweet none the less. (Hangover had well and truly kicked in ).
