Mornington

Sunday, 12th October, 2008

Second outing of the season saw the lads converge at Mornington Golf Club. This was the first time back there since November 2000, the course played well, was in good nick and the weather was spot on.

A couple of new call ups off the bench saw Stevie Keenan and Winker’s brother-in-law George join us this month after a few call offs.

Before first tee-off Billy Mac introduced the members to this seasons latest golfing fashion the sock c/w zip and pocket, not sure if it will catch on.

The Macster – always ahead of the pack

Winners of the prestigious Harris Tweed jackets this month with a net score of 55.25 were the team of Snappy Tom, Barra, Paul and Tich.

SNAPPY TOM, BARRA, PAUL, TICH

As noted in the photo one of the Tweeds had inadvertently been removed by one of last months recipients ie Bob and not returned for due presentations, as it turned out it was alleged that said Bob was in fact wearing it during his run in the Melbourne marathon.

At the other end of the honours board to collect this months NAGA was the team loosely led by Stevie with George, Baby Koala and Billy Mac all playing their part.

BABY KOALA, BILLY MAC, STEVIE K., (missing GeorgeT.)

Nearest the Pins went to the Barra (5th), Stevie Gray (7th), Joe (10th) and Mitch (16th)

Billy Mac extended his repertoire of trick shots this month by managing to finely top the ball enabling it to flick up and hit himself on the belly, this, incidentally was on the same course he managed to tee-off sending the ball through his own legs into the drink.

The new handicapping team of Joe and Shug decided not to follow last months precedent by not cutting any handicaps, instead choosing to abuse their power of authority and slash all of todays winners by a shot each, even though one of them is carrying a disability, ruthless without compassion. These cuts now put Snappy Tom out on his own as the lowest handicapped player in the group at 15.

Special mention to Deeks who turned 50 last week and doesn’t look a day over ___!!!! Happy Birthday from all at the club.

Next outing will be to Flinders on 2nd November, (Melb. Cup weekend) and we will be playing for the inaugural Jack Jones Trophy this will be a single stableford event with the additional rule that no ‘gimees’ shall be awarded during the round. Note the slightly later tee-off at 8.40 but please ensure we are all there in plenty of time.
