Amstel

Sunday, 25th January, 2009

The start of the new calendar year saw the club staying local this month playing at Amstel. The format for the day was stableford.

The start of the day wouldn’t be the same without a couple of call offs due injury and illness, followed by the predictable non-appearances from ‘no-lob Bob’ Currie and you know who Billy Mac, throw in a couple of overseas guests Ian and Billy (very welcome lads hope you enjoyed the outing), the Barra was put under the pump straight away to do all the necessary re-arrangements to allow the McClelland GC to flow smoothly as usual. Unfortunately Ian damaged his wing and retired hurt after about 14 holes.

The weather was spot on and the course itself was in reasonable nick apart from the pretend bunkers that skirted the greens, at least those who ventured in there didn’t have to worry about raking them.

The winner of the day’s jacket was to be the one of the clubs currently more consistent players, Clayton, who came in with 38 points.
