This month we made our way inland to a new venue for our club in the shape of Kingston Links in Rowville. With most of the focus, since last months outing, on Dave as to whether he could prove the bookies right and take out a third consecutive NAGA in a row.
It was however, alleged that Dave had made moves to avert this over the previous weeks by negotiating with George to pull out and so be replaced with the consistent Spoon to bail him out. It is believed that the final figures quoted in this ‘gentlemans agreement’ were that Dave would subsidise the cost of George’s operation to have first prosthetic leg fitted, which had been giving him jip in recent times.
This turned out to be a master stroke from the man who had painted himself into the clubs corner and could do no more than resort to low tactics – allegedly.
The late scratching, at the barrier, of George did see the dramatic emergence from the car park of the Spoon into the team of Dave, Paul and Tich. This late movement allegedly saw our Dave in the Kingston Links car park trying to plunge the bookies with some large wads only for the news to filter through when they closed all betting and called for a stewards inquiry.
So the team of Spoon, Dave, Paul and Tich swept all before them and took the prized jackets with a net score of 52.75.
In a day of upsets the team led by Snappy Tom with Shug, Baby Koala and Alan were to bring up the rear with a net score of 60.25. As it turned out this was a dull day for the clubs lowest handicapper as the day would prove to be his first NAGA in club history. Snappy Tom was to crank up the protest siren but Dave was having none of it. The jacket was finally on as he tried to fill his mate Spoon with copious amounts of alcohol in celebration.
Dave not sure where he’s supposed to be !
Snappy Tom, Baby koala and Alan (missing Shug)
Nearest the pins for the day went to Spoon, Paul, Baby Koala and Ryan who each took out one of our special pro-v 1 balls.
The handicappers again swung into action with single shot cuts to the winning team of Spoon (11), Dave(15), Paul(21) and Tich(29) along with Damo (23).
Next month we go to Berwick Montuna to play stableford singles where the rejuvenated Dave will play of the new handicap of 15, interesting times ahead for the fluctuating Dave.
