This month saw the lads congregate at the Rosebud Country Club with the format of the day to be the Callaway system.
Good to see everyone turning up on time, making things a lot easier on the day, nice to see Jimmy Dempsey back playing with us again, if only for a day, also mention to our new recruit off the bench, Welshy.
Under the Callaway system the lads had to keep a stroke score for the day which led to some rather large scorecards coming back to the clubhouse and with the course in suberb condition there could be no excuses other than ones own golfing prowess.
Once all the calculations had been done it seemed only fitting that the winner on day should be big Alex who shot 78 off the stick with a net 72, not bad for someone who couldn’t putt, apparently a joy to watch.
Sadly at the other end of the scale, under the days format, the collector of the NAGA fell to Andy Mac, and for the second month in a row did not show up for the photo shoot, watch this space…..
What was highlighted was the wide range of handicap we have in the club, with Alex shooting 78 at one end and Billy Mac shooting 128 at the other. Congratulations though to Billy who managed to keep the difference down to 50 thanks to his new driver, or he could have got a really bad score.
Nearest the Pins went to Snappy Tom, Welshy x2 and Hughie
Next outing is to Pakenham on 10th Feb and the format for that day will be a head to head matchplay starting with our 2 lowest handicappers and working our way down through the club
