Round 7: March 10th @ Cape Schanck: Andy Mac Memorial Day: Singles

The 6th instalment of the Andy Mac was held in the middle of a heatwave, with a top temp of 38° expected and a hot morning greeting the full field of 24 players. The toast before tee-off did little to cool down the players but it did lift the spirits of all involved. Before tee-off Barra, perhaps trying to deflect attention from himself pointing out those playing with handicaps well below their official handicaps or in the case of Habba and Red going for a 3 peat, for winning the day and NTP on the 14th respectively.

Given the excessive heat scoring was a little lower than previous years, with both winner and NAGA carding scores well below previous outings. The pointy end of the leaderboard saw 2 points separate the top 3, with Ryan winning the day carding a respectable 38pwa, this was even more special given he had a fresh airy during his round. For his trouble he took home a swag of prizes generously donated by members of the club. Round for 4 at Rossdale GC, FJ shirt and hat, signed Middy’s shirt, thongs and bottle, sleeve ProV1s and a bottle of Jim Beam Black. Well played Ryser and well deserved.

Baby Koala finished in 2nd place with 37pwa, pocketing a Ping hat, 2 sleeves ProV1s and $150 Visa card.

CS 2nd

with Bob a further point back on 36. Taking home a bottle of Smirnoff Black and $50 Drummond voucher.

CS 3rd

If scoring at the top was low, the race for NAGA saw some of the lowest scoring of the season. Stork finishing in the first group with a score of 22 and expecting to have the company of Mr Numpty left early to “beat the traffic”. Little did he know that all he had to do was wait for a couple of groups to come in and he would have been relieved to see last years NAGA recipient Spoon came in with a paltry 19pwa. Consistent if nothing else by Spoon. The tension was also high in the following groups with Joe, thinking he had NAGA sown up with 20pwa, very relieved to see a card below his. Final standing Spoon 19pwa, Joe 20, Stork 22.

Event Management for the day was taken was taken up on short notice by Clayton and Mitch, given that the original management team was a couple of artful dodgers who continually duck and weave their responsibilities. Clayton serving up curry, chips and rice, with Mitch serving up chocolate brownies and ice cream. Their effort appreciated by all involved.
