Round 7: Centenary Park – Singles Event. April 4th
We ventured to Centenary Park for the 4th singles event of the season. With warm weather and great condition for golf forecast a lot was expected from the assembled players. As we all know from past events, some will rise to the occasion, others will falter at the last hurdle.
As has been a constant throughout the current season there were some familiar face sitting atop the leader board at the end of the day. With possibly the biggest winning margin of the season it was Barra with a score of 40pwa beating out Baby Koala by 5 points who carded a respectable 35. Not only taking out the day and donning the tweed jacket and taking home the prizes for the 3rd time this season, but surely the season is his to lose at this stage. Can he handle to pressure? Only time will tell.
The race for Mr Numpty was a close affair, with 2 points separating 4 very familiar faces at this end of the ledger. It was the very unfortunate Red coming in with a score of 25pwa (a score that would be a solid mid table finish on most days) just doing enough to beat out Joe and Billy Mac with 26 followed by Sutho with 27. Due to unforeseen circumstances Mr Numpty couldn’t be in attendance so a stand in was found for the photo.
NTP for the day: 2nd – Barra, 8th – NIL, 13th – Red, 18th – Girth
Cuts: Barra 22 → 20
Slides: Red 18 → 19, Joe 13 → 14, Billy Mac 43 → 44 (same as last round, he is now the new record holder)
Secret 6 for the day was also taken out Barra, with a total score of 16pwa, with the proceeds donated to Men’s Health.
Well done to Billy A and Red for taking care of the day and putting on a spread of roast beef and gravy rolls and baked potatoes, with apple and rhubarb crumble with ice cream.
