Lang Lang: Singles

8th September 2019

Event Management: Girdy & Sutho.

McClelland Golf Club commenced it’s 2019/20 season on Sunday 8th September at the picturesque Lang Lang Golf Club. After reassurances from the Golf Club that the track was not too wet earlier in the week 20mm of rain overnight changed the conditions for our first singles event for the year.

A reduced field of 16 for the new season got underway at 8am from both front and back tees in a hope of avoiding forecast rain in early afternoon. Luckily apart from the odd spring shower we avoided any heavy downpours so were able to concentrate on the task at hand winning the bounty of prizes on offer and avoiding the twirly hat.

Now on to the main event, Sutho found the wet track most difficult on the day and with an almost McClelland Golf Club record lowest score of 10 took home the dog and the twirly hat for next time. Billy Mac, though back to 36 handicap, avoided this honour by a clear six shots and was happy to tell all back in the clubrooms.

NAGA 8.9.19

The same old faces at the other end of the equation meant that Ryan Lee, with a final score of 35, took home the bounty of prizes and first 5pwa towards the newly named Ann Lee Golfer of the year. I will take this opportunity on behalf of the family to thank you all for this kind gesture it means the world to the family. I will say on obtaining the Middy’s sticker I now have a full complement of Middy’s paraphernalia and am considering opening up my own shop.

winner8.9.19Nearest the pins on the day: 5th Billy Armour, 9th Thommo, 12th Joe, 15th Ryan Lee

The secret six with the outrageous score of 14 was won by Thommo which was in fact 4 pts higher than our NAGA for the day! However Thommo called a rain day and did not return to the club so the candy went into the men’s health pot, greatly appreciated.

Men’s health collected $107 on the day which is a good start considering the reduced field, so well done lads.

Handicap changes for the day: Ryan Lee 20 → 18, Sutho 31 → 32, Billy Mac 36 → 37, Gav 33 → 34.

Last but not least as seen on the McClelland facebook page the shot of the day goes to the one and only Billy Mac who managed to hit is ball into Sutho’s bag. Luckily eagle-eyed Joe spotted this event or Billy may still be looking for his ball.

mascter1. 8.9.19A big thank you to Event Management on the day for their lovely meals back at the ranch Girdy – Curried Sausages & Chips and Sutho -  Sticky Date Pudding both went down well with the boys.
