Format; 4 ball ambrose

Final outing for the calendar year and we were at Devilbend. The weather looked ominous as the rain had been thunderous all through the night. Luck was on our side there as we only had to endure a couple of light showers throughout the round.

A disastrous start fell on the organisers with 3 people not showing up on the day. Barra, Paul and Hubba quickly swung into action along with Sammy (much appreciated help). A complete re-shuffle of the draw which switched the members into 7 teams of 3, these were as follows;

Christophe 10, Ryan 22, Hubba 22 –  9

Ged 19, Tich 28, Tim 36 –  13.83

Daniel 12, Mitch 22, Winker 25 –  9.83

Bob 17, Sutho 31, Taffy 21 – 13.83

Paul 14, Biggsy 25, Clayton 36 – 12.05

Deeks 16, Billy A. 20, Koala 31 – 11.16

Red 18, Sammy 24, Billy Mac 37 – 13.16

The course was in fine condition and it was all down to the players to put their wares on show. This proved a bridge too far for Team Red who couldn’t lead his team of Sammy and Macster to NAGA safety and it was twirly hats all round for Christmas. A gross score of 84 nett 70.84 led Captain Red to quickly deflect any blame from himself and pointed the finger fair and square at his 2 compatriots, singling out Sammy to take home the dog for the festive period.Sammy, Red, Billy MacBut it was (snug fitting) Harris Tweeds for Team Christophe alongside Hubba and Ryan who somehow managed to score a 68 nett 59 to find themselves in the winner’s circle. This round of golf wasn’t without its dramas, as the organiser Barra, who was walking the course, found himself casually meandering his way round observed Hubba having severe difficulties getting his four drives on the card come hole 5. This was a constant source of entertainment and the status remained until the par 3, 13th when Captain Christophe was forced to take one of Hubba’s shite drives, rather than his own pin high effort, needless to say a bogey ensued, the Captain was none too pleased. Things didn’t improve for Hubba as he duffed one shot after another, the pressure was mounting on Hubba who could nothing more than wilt. The Captain was all out of ideas as Hubba was sent to the 16th 17th and 18th to get his last 3 drives on the card. In fairness he nailed the 16th down the middle; however that proved to be a fluke as 17 and 18 sat plumb behind the trees.Ryan, Girdy, HubbaNearest the pins went to Red (3rd), Bob (8th), Paul (13th)

Handicap adjustments went to Christophe 10 to 9, Ryan 22 to 21. And the unfortunate Hubba 22 to 21. Team Red eased out as follows; Red 18 to 19, Sammy 24 to 25 and the Macster continuing his annual crusade towards 40, going from 37 to 38.

Thanks to the event management team of Barra, Paul and Hubba who set up a Christmas theme for the day with Chrissy dinner with all the trimmings, prizes and décor.BarraMerry Christmas to all the members.
