Format; Stableford

The annual return to Flinders on Melbourne Cup weekend but without playing for the Jack Jones Memorial trophy which was retired after 10 years of support. However, the time and place remained the same with the lads still able to toast Jack at his tree on their way round the course was a nice touch.

Beverages were supplied by Joe, Koala, Hubba and Barra for the morning hydration. Injury still had Barra on the touchlines, however, he took on the duty of driving the drinks cart around to help the members keep their fluids up. In all honesty, Barra showed his inexperience in this field as the cart was empty well before it should have been.

Weather and course were both fine, there could no excuses except for the shortfall in ability, for some.

That certainly applied to Clayton, a 3 time winner of the Jack Jones, who could only put together a pitiful score of 19 points for his day out. This would see his handicap ease out to a comfortable 36 for the first time. With the upcoming inaugural Andy Mac event round the corner some may suggest “nice darts”.But it was Koala who had a day out with more than double Clayton’s tally, carding a fine score of 41 points to see him don the tweed back at headquarters. Prizes galore as per for the KB including hats, umbrella, sleeve of prov1s, polo shirt, golf glove and the main prize of can of 5 beans, superb.The secret six prize was boosted by Hubba’s generosity to put in the gold coin donation for the beers throughout the day. This prize of $62 was taken out by Nick with a score of 15 points.

Nearset the pins for the day went to Koala (3^rd), Vic (9^th)(12^th), Joe (14^th), Red (17^th).

Handicap adjustments would see Koala in from 33 to 31. Easing out, as mentioned above, Clayton out from 35 to 36, Billy Mac 36 to 37, Ged 18 to 19.

Top eight scores advanced in the knockout cup, these were Koala, Tich, Billy A., Joe, Biggsy, Bob, Taffy and Vic.
