Format: Matchplay/Stableford

The final game of the season sees the lads converge at the local Divot. A little bit of a wet track with a few showers throughout the day made it a wee bit difficult for some.

A few trophies up for grabs today, none more so than the inaugural annual Matchplay competition. The final of this would be fought out between Joe and Taffy. It would be Taffy who’d reign supreme on this occasion winning 6 and 5.As the rest of the membership played out a stableford competition it would be Taffy who’d wipe the floor of all and sundry with a huge tally of 45 points to don the Tweed for the day. At the other end of the stableford comp was Joe junior who couldn’t muster half of Taffy’s with a score of 22 points to take the dog home for the close season.Nearest the pins went to Taffy (2^nd), Hubba (13^th), Christophe (18^th).

Handicap adjustments would see Taffy cut from 27 to 18 with the following easing out 1 shot; Joe junior 22 to 23, Sutho 28 to 29, Barra 19 to 20 and Macster 38 to 39.

The end of season awards were also on offer, and once Barra had tallied the numbers it was again Taffy, who’s win today, would scoop the player of the year trophy for 2016-17.More top prizes from the MGC locker room, including rain jacket, hats, a Rolex watch, prov1 balls, Pierre Cardin polo shirts, crystal beer glasses, gloves, MGC golf towel, $200 of the cold hard stuff and much more.

Attention quickly turned to NAGA of the year with a few members shifting awkwardly on the edge of their seats, it was over to Barra to do the numbers and name Tim as the recipient of the dish for the second time in his career.

A massive thanks to all who donated, not just today but throughout the season. To all members with their contribution to the event management each month. It’s been another successful, enjoyable and highly entertaining season. See you all in September.
