Format: Stableford pairs (scores added together)

First outing of 4 this season to the lovely Eagle Ridge, playing a second team event in a row saw the lads paired up for a joint Stableford competition.First up start of the season for Shug since his move to the pine, he would have the pleasure of playing with, and coaching Clayton to a joint effort of 43 points for the day. However, this was just enough points to see the 2 Billys (Mac and Armour) relegated to position of NAGA of the day with an all-time low score of 41 points combined. It was also reported that Billy Armour had sustained a back injury and had turned to his partner to bail them out, but the Macster had nothing in the tank and result was a mere formality.

Billy Mac, Billy A.

But it was the club’s form player, Christophe who was to be donning the Tweed along with his partner Sutho, with a combined score of 68 points.

Girdy, SuthoThis did incite the age-old MGC trivia question of;

Q. ‘who’s the best player in the club never to have won a singles event?’

A. (clue)     C_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ E

Nearest the pins were Red (6th), Paul (8th), Biggsy (11th), Andy Mac (17th)

The handicapping saw the winning pair cut one shot each with Christophe moving from 16 to 15 and Sutho from 26 to 25. The bottom 4 of the day resulted in Billy Armour sliding from 20 to 21, Shug from 24 to 25, Clayton from 31 to 32 and Billy Mac remaining on the maximum handicap of 36, because I guess you’ve just got to stop somewhere.
